Teaching Philosophy

In my lessons, I work to create an environment that prioritizes empathy and compassion. All of my students are encouraged to be curious, open, and eager to learn.

While I hold a high standard for my students, I am very understanding and work with them when they are facing challenges. I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, be willing to try new things, and feel as though their lessons are a two way street: not just me telling them how to improve, but rather, a collaborative effort towards growth.

My teaching prioritizes musicality and expression through solid fundamental work on topics such as technique, intonation, style, rhythm, and tone color. It is with these tools and their unique experiences that I believe they can express themselves fully. I prioritize my students’ wellbeing and strive to create a space in which they feel comfortable being their full selves.
